Many family members and friends had told me about Flight of the Conchords, but it wasn't until we visited Jodi up in Oakland that we had a chance to watch a few episodes... and now I have a big old mancrush on these two guys and can't get this sequence and song out of my head...

Don't get what? Fever induced dreams? or why these two guys as David Bowie and singing about him is so fantastic?

I think it is suppose to be ironic. They are either mocking Bowie, mocking those who like Bowie or mocking those who think this is a tribute to Bowie. By the way, I like Bowie.
I love Bowie, and my guess is that these guys love Bowie too, but I bet even Bowie would admit that some of his ph-ph-ph-phases deserve mocking!
